The Director of StrategyDevelopment for this leading Biotech company will be critical to guiding our client's evolution as theydramatically increase the size and complexity of their business in theimmediate future. This person must tackle and resolve complex strategicissues where multiple stakeholders may have conflicting or overlappinginterests. In addition, this person will be accountable for developingour client's systems and capabilities so that strategic planning becomessignificantly more sophisticated and also becomes a continuous, real-timeprocess. This is a high visibility position requiring an individual whomust have strong credibility with senior management and who can workseamlessly with all levels in the organization and bring together diversecross-functional views..

Education
Candidates will possess a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university. A graduate degree is highly desirable.

Position Summary
Lead our client's annual long range planning process, including portfolio analysis and strategy. Develop and improve this strategic approach. Lead ad hoc strategic initiatives as needed. Support senior management in ongoing and ad hoc corporate planning efforts. Create and implement long-term plans for the evolution of therapeutic focus areas to build our client's product pipeline. Define how the roles of focus area leaders and teams grow over time. Work with Market Development and other parts of the organization to further develop and implement disease strategies for product development and commercialization. Ensure coordination with therapeutic focus areas and with product development teams. Participate in operational efforts to revamp program management and decision-making. Link these systems so that they drive the strategic planning process. Coordinate capacity and organizational planning of all line functions to ensure that the evolution of our client organizational structure is synchronized with our strategic goals and with our growth needs.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Director, Strategy Development will be responsible for:

    • 8-12 years' experience in the health care industry or management consulting in the pharmaceutical industry. Demonstrated managerial experience, demonstrated leadership capability.
    • Experience in planning/capital budgeting in a high-technology environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage large cross-functional projects; able to create enthusiasm in a team. Equally skilled at being a facilitator and at being a leader.
    • Several years in role that demonstrates strong strategic thinking and excellent analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to apply pragmatic skills to make strategy actionable.
    • Strong technical background and/or very comfortable working with technical and quantitative information.
    • Strong skills in presentation, written & oral communication, and networking.
    • Comfortable in a continuously changing and resource constrained environment.
    • Able to bring clarity to ambiguous situations; able to set clear direction.
    Able to effect change in an organization; can getthings done through thought leadership and through ability to positivelyinfluence decision makers.

    Compensation
    An attractive compensation package has been developed which includes a competitive base salary, an incentive bonus plan, and equity participation.
