Reporting Relationship The position reports to the VP of External Affairs.
Education Bachelor's degree required. Ph.D. or MS desired.
Responsibilities This key leadershipposition will be responsible for direct supervision of all institutions andresearch centers designing, developing, and implementing data models using thePhysiome database systems, enabling and facilitating the use of all Physiomesoftware and technology.
Work with the heads of R&D and Marketing toset and implement strategies to establish relationships with targetedlaboratories, institutions, and research centers.
TheDatabase Team and the Modeling Team to provide technical leadership and set andimplement strategies for populating and managing the Physiome database, and forthe population and development ofmodels with data generated at institutions and other research centers.
Work with the Software Development Team toprovide input for improving applications and software functionality in use atinstitutions and other research centers.
Oversee development of integrated bio-informaticsolutions for accessing gene, protein and physiological data at the targetedinstitutions and research centers.for accessing gene, protein and physiological data.
Direct the acquisition of biological data setsandrepresent Physiome attechnical conferences and seminars on data modeling.
Coordinate development of XML-based standards for representing and exchanging biological models (see

Requirements The ideal candidate will have 4-6 years as a manager in a biomedical informatics/database environment. Strong technical expertise in the development of web-accessible biological database systems using Oracle software. Familiarity with data warehousing and XML are desirable. Additionally experience with data mining/visualization techniques, modeling/storage of complex data (e.g. image data), and the integration of secure, large-scale (multi-terabyte) database systems. Must be creative, high energy, and have excellent management, organizational and problem-solving skills that work well in a team environment. Excellent communication skills are essential.
Compensation The compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience. It will include base, bonus and equity components.
