TITLE
Director of Software Engineering

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
The Director of Software Engineering will report to the VP of Engineering.

LOCATION
This position will be based in Louiseville, Colorado. Louiseville is located nextto Boulder, CO.

EDUCATION
An undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related discipline isrequired.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of Software Engineering will be responsible for the successfuldelivery of multiple products from the development organization. He/she will beaccountable for the planning, specification, design, implementation and testing necessaryto realize quality products fulfilling requirements defined by the VP of Engineering andthe executive staff. Overall responsibilities include:

• Manage and mentor a software development team of managers, software engineers and QA engineers
• Set the technical direction of two product lines
• Manage a budget of approximately $2-3 million
• Participate with marketing and customers to define product requirements
• Propose tools and techniques to continuously improve the development process
• Coordinate product development activities across departments
• Set goals and coordinate development activities internally and with customers. Work with other departments’ requirements in defining interfaces and functional responsibilities between groups.
• Provide leadership and guidance to associates in the areas of new software design, development and product lifecycle management

EXPERIENCE
The Director of Software Engineering will have a minimum of eight (8) yearsof increasing responsibility in a leading edge software development company or corporateapplications development environment, with at least three (3) years in a managementposition, managing a group of twenty (20) or more. Qualified candidates will have a stronghistory of applications development experience, preferably in web-based technologies.Cross-platform experience and knowledge of object-oriented design and component-baseddesign is required, and specific knowledge of multi-tier thin client applications ispreferred. Familiarity with VideoOn Demand, Cable TV advertising systems, orcomputer-based video systems is highly desirable.

The successful candidate will be skilled in the concepts of project management andcross-project prioritization and have the technical aptitude to guide the developmenteffort. He/she will have strong analytical and budgetary skills. The ideal candidate willhave strong leadership skills and an established track record of growing an engineeringteam and the proven ability to bring products to market.
