Founded by twograduates of the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, Intertect closed aSeries A round of venture capital and commenced commercial operations in September of1999. Intertect has developed a robust, full-text Internet search engine powered byproprietary webcrawling, indexing, and relevance sorting technology. Based on over oneyear of research and design, Intertect’s search engine is a scaleable and redundantplatform for indexing millions of web documents. After transforming research efforts intoa successful business, Intertect now customizes search technology for middle market,high-traffic websites throughout the world. The search products enable portals,corporations, and other web properties the ability to offer completely customized searchsolutions, which in turn increase the value and revenue potential of their business.

EDUCATION
BS or MS in computer science and 5+ years relevant experience.

WORK EXPERIENCE
Candidates for the Vice President of Engineering will possess a minimumof ten (10) years of increasing responsibility in a software development and managementrole of developing large-scale software systems. Strong candidates will have achievedsuccess in previous positions developing search engine technology in a LINUX/UNIXenvironment utilizing the ANSI C language standard. Candidates should have a provenability to build and manage a world-class engineering organization. He/she will have arecord of successfully cutting costs and streamlining operations through planning, processdevelopment, hiring, personnel policies, development of good teamwork, incentive programs,and vendor management.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Intertect is seeking a Vice President of Engineering to leaddevelopment of the core technologies and operational resources that will establishIntertect as a world leader in search engine technology. This position will direct systemsoperations and product development, and will also build the structure to allow Intertectto continue attracting and benefiting from the research efforts of the world's topscientists.

This person will deliver products on-time, within budget and with the highest regardfor quality. He/She will also be prepared to recommend technology platforms and tools,contribute to the evaluation of third party software, manage both in-house andout-of-house software projects, build strong development teams, and assist in establishingstandards.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES SUMMARY
The selected candidate will be a highly intelligent, motivated andmature professional. He/she will have a confident appreciation of the demands of runningcomplicated operational units at peak efficiency, and the ability to function as a seniorstrategist with key members of top management at a rapidly growing start-up company.

The desired candidate will also be a capable manager with the interpersonal skills andexperience to quickly establish himself/herself as a mentor and leader, and who can bringthe best out of the exceptionally talented middle managers under his/her watch.

COMPENSATION
Compensation will be commensurate with experience, and will includebonus and equity opportunities. Relocation will be available.
