Our client, Inter-Act Systems Inc., was formed in 1992 for the purpose of combiningtechnology and marketing to solve business problems. The management and investor grouprepresents a combination of highly talented systems and computer technical experts,financial resources, and experienced marketing professionals. Their product, the Inter-ActPromotion Network (IPN), is a state of the art Windows NT application. IPN is a network ofkiosks distributed through various supermarket point of sales data to track individualcustomers' purchases and deliver coupons to a customer based on his or her purchasehistory. Inter-Act Systems, Inc. is headquartered in Norwalk, Connecticut, and currentlyhas 75 employees with planned growth to 100 by year end and 150 in 1997. Inter-Act hassigned contracts with major retailers such as Grand Union, A&P, ACME, and other majorretailers.

The Grocery Network System Overview

The Grocery Network System (GNS) is a software based promotion delivery and informationtracking system that gives you the power to influence and change purchase decisions, oneshopper at a time. As an interactive in-store promotional targeting system, it links brandmanufacturers directly with their desired consumer, including competitive users and loyalcustomers. Brands can tailor their promotion variables based on the purchase history ofeach shopper in the system. Manufacturers can control promotion spending since brandscontract for a certain number of products to be sold. Promotional products sold arevalidated by INI's patented electronic verification process.

• GNS provides retailers with an in-store promotion system that can drive volume their specialty departments.
• GNS hardware consists of interactive television screens in a free-standing kiosk which are located near the entrances of the grocery stores. Customers select from a variety of targeted promotional offers and the system prints an encoded shopping list. GNS is connected to the store's check-out scanner and purchases are matched to the shopping list.
