CLIENT
Our client, one of the largest personal electronics entertainment corporations inthe world, with 15 million enrolled members, is dramatically shifting its focus toonline/e-commerce marketing. As part of this change in corporate philosophy, they arebuilding a leading-edge Internet Applications Development Group.

TITLE
Project Leader

LOCATION
Mid-Town Manhattan

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
The position will report directly to Manager of Internet Systems Development.

• Content Production Systems.
• Product Database Systems.
• Commerce Systems.
• Product Recommendation Systems.

The development group at Columbia House is intended to reflect a dynamic,project-oriented environment, where assigned application areas are not considered apermanent designation of responsibilities. Transitions to leading projects in otherfunctional areas of our web sites will be encouraged and intended, as long as a highstandard of service to the business areas will be maintained by such a transition.

The site is currently written on a Unix platform, using CGI scripting and programswritten in C accessing Informix databases. There will be a strong initiative in the comingyear to introduce new application development tools and standards. This will includedistributed object technologies such as serviettes, CORBA, and Enterprise JavaBeans.

• Strong communication skills.
• One to two years experience in a senior systems development or project leader role.
• At least one year experience in Internet and/or Intranet development, in a hands-on development role; but will entertain highly-talented candidates with a strong client/server background.
• Two to three years experience in hands-on development and programming; preferably in a Unix environment.
• One to three years experience years in relational database design and development; Informix preferable, but not required.

• Develops project specifications for, and delegates tasks to, senior and lower level developers on all assigned projects.
• Oversees and guides senior and lower level developers working on assigned projects. Offers technical and analytical expertise to developers.
• Works with database administration area to design and model new and existing databases.
• Works with manager of application development area to plan, prioritize and staff all new project requests. Maintains detailed project plans, and communicates to management detailed progress of each project.
• Enforces the use of development coding tools and standards established by the management team of the development area; contributing to the establishment of development standards and tools for the entire development area.

COMPENSATION
Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
