CLIENT
Our client, one of the largest personal electronics entertainment corporations inthe world, with 15 million enrolled members, is dramatically shifting its focus toonline/e-commerce marketing. As part of this change in corporate philosophy, they arebuilding a leading-edge Internet Applications Development Group.

TITLE
Manager of Internet Systems Development

LOCATION
Mid-Town Manhattan

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
The position will report directly to the Director of Internet Systems Development.

POTENTIAL FUNCTIONAL AREAS

• Content Production Systems.
• Product Database Systems.
• Commerce Systems.
• Product Recommendation Systems.

The development group at Columbia House is intended to reflect a dynamic,project-oriented environment, where assigned application areas are not considered apermanent designation of responsibilities. Transitions to the management of otherfunctional areas of our web sites will be encouraged and intended, as long as a highstandard of service to the business areas will be maintained by such a transition.

• Two to three years experience in system development leadership and/or management.
• At least one year experience in Internet and/or Intranet development, in a hands-on development role; but will entertain highly-talented candidates with a strong client/server background.
• Two to three years experience in hands-on development and programming; preferably in a Unix environment.
• Three to five years with relational database design and development experience; Informix preferable but not required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manages all project leaders and system developers working on application development projects related to his/her specific functional area.
• Works with director of application development area to plan and prioritize all new project requests. Communicates regularly with the director of the application develop area on the progress of active projects.
• Works with peers in business and marketing development areas to establish and prioritize project request list, and obtain preliminary project scope and system requirements.
• Maintains a centralized project plan of all projects, keeping the business areas informed of all progress.
• Enforces the use of development coding tools and standards established by the management team of the development area.
• Contributes to the establishment of development standards and tools for the entire development area, staying abreast of new technologies in the industry and how they can help solve current or future business needs.

COMPENSATION
Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
